Boundaries

Our time and energy are precious and we get to decide how they are spent. When we have boundaries in place, we teach people how to treat us and we convey the message of what we will and will not accept. We are not responsible for how others respond to our boundaries and we will not apologize for setting them. Today we will love ourselves enough to draw those lines in the sand and enforce them when necessary. 🔮

  1. This has been a big learning curve for me Martha, because I was such a people pleaser my entire life. It almost feels wrong to set boundaries, but that's just my lifetime of wiring in my brain that needs to be adjusted! I'm getting better at it! ♥

    1. It's an obstacle for many. I was raised with the mindset that being a martyr makes you a good person. That is a really toxic way of thinking. I don't know when it dawned on me that it was ridiculous. Possibly during my dysfunctional first marriage, but not in the first few years. It was indeed a steep learning curve. But I managed and I'm in a good place now. Sometimes those pesky ghosts return to haunt me and try to convince me that unless I always say yes or sacrifice myself, I'm selfish. That's what we have candle magic and incense for. HAHA But it is hard to overcome.

    2. YES! That's so well said, I was also raised that being a martyr was a good thing, sigh. Ha ha...yes, candles and incense keep us honest towards ourselves for sure! When I'm in a situation where I feel guilty or selfish if I say no, I think of WWJD? Now, that's not Jesus, it's What Would Jack Do? Jack my dog lol...he certainly feels no guilt or shame when he doesn't want to do something! ☺☺ Humans are so darn complex, maybe that's why I'm drawn a bit towards Psychology, trying to understand my own way of thinking and behaving a little more?

    3. What would Jack do? HAHAHA! I love it. That's a great way of seeing things. I should apply the same question to my cat, Kazee. She's the feline version of Jack! ❤️
