Procrastination

Wisdom For Healing by Caroline Myss

I'll admit that I can be a bit of a procrastinator in some areas of my life. Sometimes it's simply because I can't make a decision when I get to a fork in the road. Do I go this way or that way? Do I do this or that? When I'm in a situation where there are too many options, or in a situation where more than one choice is appealing, I can end up going around in circles. And I wait rather than take action. What exactly am I waiting for? That's the million dollar question.

Thankfully, I eventually choose and move forward. And wonder why I didn't take action sooner! Today I will take action throughout the day. Hopefully čśŐ

How about you? Do you take action?

  1. Hi Martha :) I'd say yes, I take action. I've lost too many years to sit on my hands anymore. I don't like to procrastinate on anything because it's very true that it causes stress. I used to waffle on decisions all the time, then I just decided to give myself the benefit of the doubt and move forward with the decision. If it was a wrong one, so I made a mistake. It's better than playing the what if game that I was SO good at in the past!!!

    1. I totally agree, Rain! That's a great point about the 'what if game'. I think that is a much worse place to be. You end up coming up with all sorts of negative scenarios sometimes that leave you even more stressed.

  2. I can be indecisive - and I still can be - but I discovered a secret or rather uncovered a truth. If I follow what my fearful mind is saying (ego) to do that is why I'm usually indecisive because something just doesn't feel right. I discovered if I sit for a moment and wait for the answer to come - then I know the forward movement to take. Just this morning a realization came ..... since about March 7 I kept seeing a wolf - in print, hearing it in conversation, etc. It was apparent it meant something to me. On 3/10 I wrote in my "signs" journal why am I seeing wolf...etc. Today five days later I'm meditating and the thought came to write out the word wolf on a piece of paper. I picked up the pen and wrote it out and IMMEDIATELY saw it backwards - FLOW. That was a true message for me today- a reminder to flow with life and not resist it and when a decision is to be made, flow with the direction that feels right. I love when these things unfold like this. Starts my day out great. Hope you and Rain have a great day.

    1. That is awesome, Sandy! I never would have thought of doing that with words. I'll have to try it sometime when I notice a sign or some type of repetition. I'd be curious to see what comes out of it. I have moments of indecision and also moments of spontaneity. I think for me it all depends on the impact of my decision.

    2. yes the impact - has a lot to do with it... seems to require more thought.

  3. That's pretty cool Sandy, I love that way of looking at things. I never thought of looking at the actual word and trying to find meaning in the letters! Thank you for opening my eyes to that one!

  4. hi Rain - it was fun to see it backwards. I thought i found something original and then after i saw it that way, I googled seeing Wolf backwards Flow - and others had, lol. So I'm not so special after all, haha.

    1. But you googled it AFTER you thought of doing that, so you are indeed special :)
